Seedling
An age, a date of birth
Seen in news, others, reveals, reminds
Passage of lives and times
As journeys, one-way fixed. And
Mine alike as numbers
Rise, I find, to my surprise
Realisation growing, within as
Yet, that youthful pride at
Skilful tongue, that passed
Less heard as education waxed and
Confidence, mirror-image waned.
Buried, deep, lie seeds of
Words, imagination inflamed seeking
Light of days, hearers’ ears.
The question, only I, older
Can answer; how will they hear
If words remain unspoken, read, that now
Stay, firm-pinned to private page and
Hid in brain?
