Status and a Poem 28 February 2009

I’m still alive, though over-tired as Lent bites. I can only give two reasons for a lack of recent posts: tiredness and the potential breaking of pastoral integrity (i.e. There are things I cannot say too close to home. I have other channels for them, one of which is simply the silence of the prayers of the heart).

Still, for those patient enough to notice, here’s a bonus. One of my friend David’s poems.

Bread from Heaven and Pennies Dropping

Deeply in his spirit, he sighed
and groaned. A sign-seeking generation
falling into the old temptation.
And he went across to the other side.

And there, no bread there was to hand
save one little loaf. Their eyes and ears
saw his holy break-ins before
but still they did not understand.

And on he went, and on the way
asked, Who do people say I am?
And what about you, what do you say?
And Peter blurted, You’re The Man.
