It is hard to contemplate changes that happen slowly, even for the best of us. After all I find it hard to comprehend that my PhD is coming up for 10 years out of date, and my time at Plymouth Poly (1986-1989) doesn’t feel as if it was nearly half of my life ago.

Which makes events that can affect us all seem a little hard to take in, especially for a generation which has seen constant change as the norm.

Maybe that is why I found this comment more than a little disturbing:

Greenland’s contribution to global sea level rise today is two to three times greater than it was in 1996.
